Step #4--Importing
Rules for Importing Vehicles into Canada
- If you did everything correctly to this point, the last piece is easy. You will need to contact RIV to get your vehicle inspected once you're back home. Go here--> http://www.riv.ca/english/html/how_to_import.html#after
- (Repeated) You will need to show a recall clearance letter from the manufacturer. We are not allowed to do this for you. This is often the most confusing part of the process for our customers. See prior step, “Obtaining Clearance Letter”. The clearance letter is what allows you to get your vehicle inspected by the Canadian Authority.
- Prior to taking delivery of the vehicle, verify that it meets the requirements noted in Step #1. As stated in Introduction, you assume sole and full responsibility for the vehicle and the associated transaction meeting import/export rules and regulations.
- All other questions should be directed to the RIV.
- See Frequently Asked Questions if needed.
