Legendary capability

4Runner TRD Pro is ready to take your adventures to the next level. Its suspension – featuring oversie TRD Fox1 high-performance shocks with rear remote reservoirs and TRD-tuned front springs – helps carry you over unforgiving terrain.2 And with a 1/4-in. thich aluminum skid plate designed to protect things up front, this rugged body-on-frame SUV fears no trail.

4Runner Heritage

For over 30 years, 4Runner has fueled your need for adventure, tamed wild terrain2 all across the globe and cemented its status as an off-road icon. 4Runner TRD Pro takes this legendary toughness and amplifies it to a whole new level with beefier tires, a heavy-duty suspension and an aggressive design. Here’s to another 30 years of exploring. Let’s get dirty!

Stand out in the wild

When you’re an off-road legend, there’s no need to shout it. But that doesn’t mean you can’t show off. 4Runner turns heats on the trail with its old front grille and unique TRD Pro badging. And with 17-in. matte-black TRD alloy wheels3 wrapped in aggressive all-terrain tires, you can crawl through rocks, dirt and mud in style.

Genuine TRD Pro Accessories

Don’t have a TRD Pro? No problem – the TRD Pro line of accessories is also available on non-TRD vehicles. Add extra attitude with components that have been engineered with your Toyota in mind; and when installed by your Toyota dealer, maintain the ruggedness and reliability you’ve come to expect from your SUV.

1 FOX is a registered trademark of FOX Factory, Inc.2 The Toyota model or models shown are designed to meet most off-road driving requirements, but off-roading is inherently dangerous and may result in vehicle damage. Toyota encourages responsible operation to help protect you, your vehicle and the environment. Seatbelts should be worn at all times. Do not allow passengers to ride in cargo area.

3 17-in. off-road performance tires are often expected to experience greater tire wear than conventional tires. Tire life may be substantially less than mileage expectancy, depending upon tires used and driving conditions.

A Heritage of Toughness

It’s no secret that at the core of a superior off-road2 vehicle lies a body-on-frame construction. 4Runner is one of the last SUVs to still be built this way, keeping true to a heritage that has proven that body-on-frame is the answer to extreme ruggedness.

270-hp V6 Engine

4Runner’s standard 4.0-Liter V6 engine pumps out 270 horsepower and 279 lb.-ft. of torque. You won’t fall short of power, be it challenging grades or passing an 18-wheeler. With its ability to tow up to 5,000 lbs.,4 venturing into some of natures toughest ranges doesn’t mean you have to leave everything behind. 4Runner adhears to SAE J2807, the standard for tow ratings set by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).

HAC/DAC

Standard Hill Start Assist Control (HAC)5 helps to keep the vehicle from rolling backward when switching from brake to accelerator on a steep incline. The available Downhill Assist Control (DAC)6 selectively applies the brake to help keep a controlled speed on steep or slippery descents.

Skid Plates

4Runner comes with underbody armor: skid plates underneath the vehicle help protect the engine, front suspension and fuel tank (and transfer case on 4WD models) whenever Mother Earth strikes from below.

Standard full-size spare

When the terrain is unforgiving and civilization is half a day’s drive away, you can’t afford to be saddled with anything less than a full-size spare. That’s why one comes standard on all 4Runner models.

Ventilated disc brakes

The ventilated disc brake system cools things down to keep the brakes working the way they should, even when taking the long downhill drive back from that summit you’ve just explored.

4 Before towing, confirm your vehicle and trailer are compatible, hooked up and loaded proply and that you have any necessary additional equipment. Do not exceed any weight Ratings and follow all instructions in your owner’s manual. The maximum you can tow depends on base curb weight plus the total weight of any cargo, occupants, and added vehicle equipment. “Added vehicle equipment” includes additional standard/optional equipment and accessories added by the manufacturer, dealers, and/or vehicle owners. The only way to be certain of your vehicle’s exact curb weight is to weigh your vehicle without passengers or cargo.5 Hill Start Assist Control is designed to help minimize backward rolling on steep ascents. It is not a substitute for safe driving judgment and practices. Factors including speed, grade, surface conditions and driver input can all affect whether HAC will be effective in preventing a loss of control. See Owner’s Manual for additional limitations and details.

6 Downhill Assist Control (DAC) is designed to help the driver maintain vehicle control and speed on steep, downhill descents. It is not a substitute for safe driving judgment and practices. Factors including speed, grade, surface conditions and driver input can all affect whether HAC will be effective in preventing a loss of control. See Owner’s Manual for additional limitations and details.

Limited

Apart from a unique front-end design, 4Runner Limited comes with refined accents like chrome door handles and a chrome-accented front grille that give it a personality of its own.

LED Taillights

Brilliant during the day, and night. These taillights send a clear signal to everyone around you and help increase visibility. This distinctive look will be sure to attract all the right attention.

Alloy Wheels

Every 4Runner grade has a unique wheel style to enhance its personality. The SR5 comes with 17-iin. 6-spoke alloy wheels. TRD Off-Road features rugged 17-in. 7-spoke alloy wheels and black-painted accents. Limited has stylish 20-in. split 6-spoke wheels.

Projector Beam Headlights

Function and style come together in 4Runner’s projector-beam headlights. These headlights provide a stronger and higher-focused beam than conventional headlights, and the smoked trim adds a stroke of boldness to their style. These also incorporate Daytime Running Lights (DRL) to help make you more visible to approaching vehicles.

TRD Off-Road

Say hello to 4Runner TRD Off-Road and TRD Off-Road Premium – two tough SUVs to help you rule your favorite trails. This SUV stands apart with unique features like 17-in. 7-spoke alloy wheels with black painted accents and stylish TRD Off-Road badging. The inside is just as awesome with its TRD shift knob, TRD Off-Road floor mats7 and available TRD headrest lettering.

SR5

Contemporary ruggedness. 4Runner SR5’s front end lets everyone know you mean business, while still paying tribute to the iconic image that has distinguished 4Runner for years.

7 This floor mat was designed specifically for your model and model year vehicle and SHOULD NOT be used in any other vehicle. To avoid potential interference with pedal operation, each mat must be secured with its fasteners. Do not install a floor mat on top of an existing floor mat

Surrounded by quality

4Runner’s instrument panel shape is tailored to accommodate high-end technology, such as the 6.1-in. high-resolution touch-screen display, standard on all models. Also standard is Optitron instrumentation, which makes the gauges easy to see, day or night.

Premium Materials

It may look tough outside, but inside it feels exceptionally refined. That’s because we have used premium materials like SofTex on the SR5 Premium and TRD Off-Road Premium grades, and perforated leather on Limited. It’s the perfect blend of ruggedness and comfort.

Heated and Ventilated Front Seats

All 4Runners feature an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support. Step up to SR5 Premium or TRD Off-Road Premium and get a 4-way power-adjustable front passenger seat in addition to heated front seats. Limited adds heated and ventilated front seats, plus driver’s seat memory to automatically go back to your ideal position every time you strap in for a ride.

Power Moonroof

Take it all in. Available on 4Runner SR5 Premium and TRD Off-Road Premium and standard on Limited, the power tilt/slide moonroof brings you closer to the great outdoors, without even stepping out of the car.

Active front headrests

Designed to help optimize headrest position during certain types of rear-end collisions, driver and front passenger active headrests move slightly up and forward, helping to reduce neck injuries8

8 Active front headrests can help reduce the extent of whiplash in certain types of rear-end collisions.

4WD with Active Traction Control

4Runner offers two different 4-Wheel Drive systems: SR5 AWD and TRD Off-Road models utilize part-time 4WD with Active Traction Control (A-TRAC), while Limited 4WD is equipped with a full-time 4WD system featuring A-TRAC and Torsen9 limited-slip center differential with locking feature.

KDSS/CRAWL

The Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) and Crawl Control (CRAWL)10 are meant to help keep optimal traction, no matter how uneven the terrain is. KDSS automatically adjusts the suspension system for better wheel articulation, while CRAWL automatically modulates the throttle and brakes on five low-speed settings.

Multi-terrain Select

Multi-terrain select allows you to choose from four modes that will help regulate wheelspin by adjusting the engine throttle setting and traction control to help provide you with maximum traction on various off-road situations.

Lever/dial-type transfer case

All 4WD vehicles require a system to transfer power from the transmission to both front and rear wheels. TRD Off-Road comes with a lever-type transfer case to switch to low range to clear the roughest challenges you encounter, while an electronic transfer case on the SR5/Limited lets you switch with the turn of a dial.

Locking rear differential

To help you negotiate uncertain terrain, 4Runner TRD Off-Road has an electronically controlled locking rear differential that evenly distributes engine power to both rear wheels, so they move at the same speed, even if one is off the ground. It also helps to ensure a predictable output to help you maintain a controlled pace over obstacles.

9 Torsen is a registered trademark of Zexel Torson, Inc.10 Crawl Control is designed for driving on difficult terrain at low speeds. It assists the driver by controlling acceleration and braking, allowing the driver to focus on steering. The Toyota 4Runner is designed to meet off-road driving requirements, but off-roading is inherently dangerous. Always wear seatbelts. See Owner’s Manual for additional limitations and details.

Fold-flat second-row seats

Every adventure has its own demands. With 4Runner’s 40/20/40 fold-flat second-row seats, you can make room for everything you need by folding one or both seats down to accommodate up to 88.8 cubic feet of cargo space.11 When not folded down, the seatbacks recline for added passenger comfort.

Third-row seating

If you’re all about the entourage, you’ll be able to accommodate up to seven passengers with the available third-row seating on SR5 and Limited grades. The seats also have a 50/50 split capability to make room for cargo.

Power rear glass

4Runner is the only SUV in its class that has this. The power rear glass lowers with a push of a button, making it easier to grab your gear from the cargo area.12

Sliding rear cargo deck

Get quick access to your gear or the cooler. The available sliding rear cargo deck can support up to 440 lbs.11 and helps make for an easy reach to your gear, or a quick setup before heading to the great outdoors.

Smart Key System with Push Button Start

When you approach your 4Runner Limited with the Smart Key in your pocket, the interior and puddle lights illuminate automatically, the doors and rear liftgate open with the touch of a handle, and the engine starts with the push of a button.13 Getting the trip started is that easy.

120V AC power outlet

A 120V AC power outlet14 is conveniently located in the cargo area so you can keep the things you need the most charged, like your phone or the air compressor.

11 Cargo and load capacity limited by weight and distribution.12 Based on manufacturers’ data, June 2018, midsize SUV segmentation.

13 The Smart Key System may interfere with some pacemakers or cardiac defibrillators. If you have one of these medical devices, please talk to your doctor to see if you should deactivate this system.

14 Do not exceed 120V. See Owner’s Manual for additional limitations and details.

Now you can keep an eye on the important things, like your boat. 4Runner Limited’s standard sonar21 sensors, located in the front and rear bumpers, help make parallel parking easier by detecting obstacles and warning the driver with a series of tones.

20 The backup camera does not provide a comprehensive view of the rear area of the vehicle. You should also look around outside your vehicle and use your mirrors to confirm rearward clearance. Environmental conditions may limit effectiveness and view may become obscured. See Owner’s Manual for additional limitations and details.

8 standard airbags

4Runner is prepared to help protect you and your passengers with our driver and front passenger Advanced Airbag System, driver and front passenger TAP (Thorax, Abdomen, Pelvis) front seat-mounted side airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags and all-row Roll-sensing Side Curtain Airbags (RSCA)22

Side-Impact Door Beams

To help provide extra occupant protection if the vehicle is struck from the side, impact beams are located inside all doors and are designed to absorb energy and help reduce the chance of intrusion into the cabin.

Tire Pressure Monitor System7

Proper tire pressure is important not only for good handling and fuel economy, but also for your safety. 4Runner’s standard Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS)23 evaluates the pressure of the tires and issues a warning if the pressure becomes critically low.

ToyotaCare

Toyota is devoted to safety and dependability, and proper vehicle maintenance is important to both. That’s why we include a no cost maintenance plan that covers normal factory scheduled maintenance with the purchase or lease of every new 4Runner for 2 years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first.24 24-hour roadside assistance is also included for 2 years and unlimited miles.25

Star Safety System

4Runner comes standard with the Star Safety System, a suite of six safety features designed to keep you out of harm’s way. It includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC),26 Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Smart Stop Technology (SST).27

21 Front and rear parking assist sonar is designed to warn drivers of potential front and rear collisions at speeds of 6 mph or less. Certain vehicle and environmental factors, including an object’s shape and composition, may affect the ability of the front and rear parking assist sonar to detect it. Always look around outside the vehicle and use mirror to confirm clearance. See Owner’s Manual for additional limitations and details.22 All the airbag systems are Supplemental Restraint Systems. All airbags (if installed) are designed to inflate only under certain conditions and in certain types of severe collisions. To decrease the risk of injury from an inflating airbag, always wear seatbelts and sit upright in the middle of the seat as far back as possible. Do not put objects in front of an airbag or around the seatback. Do not use a rearward-facing child seat in any front passenger seat. See Owner’s Manual for additional limitations and details.

23 The Toyota Tire Pressure Monitor alerts the driver when tire pressure is critically low. For optimal tire wear and performance, tire pressure should be checked regularly with a gauge; do not rely solely on the monitor system. See Owner’s Manual for details.

24 Covers normal factory scheduled service for 2 years or 25K miles, whichever comes first. See Toyota dealer for details and exclusions. Valid only in continental U.S. and Alaska.

25 Roadside Assistance coverage is 2 years unlimited mileage. Does not include parts and fluids, except emergency fuel delivery. See Toyota Dealer for details and exclusions. Valid only in the continental U.S. and Alaska.

26 Vehicle Stability Control is an electronic system designed to help the driver maintain vehicle control under adverse conditions. It is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving practices. Factors including speed, road conditions, weather and driver steering input can all affect whether VSC will be effective in preventing a loss of control. See Owner’s Manual for additional limitations and details.

27 Brake Assist is designed to help the driver take full advantage of the benefits of ABS. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Braking effectiveness also depends on proper vehicle maintenance, and tire and road conditions. See Owner’s Manual for additional limitations and details.

28 Smart Stop Technology operates only in the event of certain contemporaneous brake and accelerator pedal applications. When engaged, the system will reduce power to help the brakes bring the vehicle to a stop. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver input can all impact stopping distance. Smart Stop Technology is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving and does not guarantee instant stopping. See Owner’s Manual for details.
