This available intelligent technology, called Predictive Fuel-Efficient Drive,10 helps boost fuel efficiency by learning your routine stopping patterns. Prius prime makes charging at home simple and more convenient than ever. In fact, there’s no need for special equipment – the charging cable is included, and it takes less than five-and-a-half hours to get a full charge using a standard household outlet. And charge scheduling allows you to schedule your charge in advance, allowing you to take advantage of off-peak electricity rates. You can forget about range anxiety – when your battery is low, and with gas in your tank, Prime can reliably get you where you’re going with its proven gas hybrid engine.
Maximize your efficiency by charging your Prime as often as possible. Public charging stations can provide a quicker charge so you’ll only need approximately two hours and ten minutes for a full charge from a 240V outlet. You can search for nearby charging stations, including tens of thousands of ChargePoint stations, on the available 11.6-in. HD multimedia display or on your smartphone through the available Prime apps.14
Charge scheduling allows you to schedule your charge in advance. You can schedule your Prime to charge at home during off-peak hours to help reduce electricity costs and support efficient grid usage in your community. Or, you can program your preferred charge start or departure time from Prime so it can be topped off and ready to roll when you are. And on Prime Advanced, you can schedule and start your charge from anywhere through the available apps.14

Take control and use your smartphone with the available Prius Prime apps,15 including the Remote Climate app.16 This way, you can check your Prime’s current temperature setting and change it to your liking – all before you even get in. When Prime is plugged in, the power used for Remote Climate is pulled straight from the grid so your battery keeps its charge. Now your comfort is always within reach.
Tap into convenience. The available Prius Prime apps give you direct access to your Prime from anywhere. They make it easy to schedule a charge, adjust the climate control, look for a charging station, locate your vehicle, and much more – all through your smartphone.15
As you park, available Intelligent Clearance Sonar (ICS)16 is designed go scan for stationary objects like walls or posts that are within close proximity. If Prime anticipates a collision, an audible and visual alert will politely notify you, engine or motor output will slow down, and if needed, brakes will automatically be applied to help bring Prime to a halt. Available Intelligent Parking Assist (IPA) helps you navigate and conquer those difficult parking situations. Prime will automatically control the steering wheel, while you control the gas and brake, and help guide you into an open parking space.
With Prime’s available Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging,17 you can charge your Qi-compatible smartphone or other compatible device without wires or worry. Place it on the nonslip holder and charge up before getting to your destination.
Using an in-vehicle camera and radar to help detect a vehicle or pedestrian in front of you, the Pre-Collision System (PCS)18 with Pedestrian Detection19 (PCS w/ PD) can help you mitigate or avoid a potential collision. If the system determines that a frontal collision is likely, it prompts you to take action using audio and visual alerts. If you notice the potential collision and apply the brakes, PCS w/ PD may apply additional force using Brake Assist (BA).20 If you don’t brake in time, it may automatically apply the brakes to reduce your speed, helping to minimize the likelihood of a frontal collision or reduce its severity.
Intended for highways and similar to “constant speed” cruise control, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)21 lets you drive at a preset speed. DRCC uses vehicle-to-vehicle control, which adjusts your speed, to help you maintain a preset distance from vehicles ahead of you that are driving at a slower speed. DRCC uses a front-grille-mounted radar and an in-vehicle camera to detect vehicles and their distance. If a driver is traveling slower than you, or within your preset range, DRCC will automatically slow your vehicle down without deactivating cruise control. If DRCC determines you need to slow down more, an audio and visual alert notifies you and brakes are applied. When there’s no longer a vehicle driving slower than your set speed in front of you, DRCC will then accelerate and regular cruise control will resume. Prius Prime features Full-Speed Range DRCC,22 which is designed to operate between 0-110 mph. However, vehicle speed must be above approximately 28 mph to initiate DRCC. This enables low-speed following, matching speed and, under certain circumstances, stopping before colliding with preceding vehicles on highways.
Under certain circumstances, Lane Departure Alert (LDA)23 is designed to detect lane departure on roads with visible lane markings. LDA only activates when you’re traveling at a speed of 32 mph or faster. When you hear and see the alert, after carefully checking the road around you, you should safety direct your vehicle back to the center of your lane. In addition, Toyota vehicles equipped with Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P)24 and Electronic Power Steering (EPS) including Steering Assist25 functionality. When it’s activated and senses that you’re unintentionally drifting, the system may automatically make small corrective steering inputs to help keep your vehicle in its lane.25
The Automatic High Beams (AHB)26 feature is a safety system designed to help the driver see more clearly at night – while reducing the glare for other drivers. By using high beams more frequently, the system may allow for earlier detection of pedestrians and obstacles. When activated, AHB is designed to rely on an in-vehicle camera to help detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles and taillights of proceeding vehicles, then automatically toggle between high and low beams.
Watching out for you. In Reverse, Prime’s available Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA)27 uses sensors to detect vehicles approaching from either side. If the system senses cross traffic, it warns you by flashing the side mirror indicators and sounding a warning tone.
See more of what matters. When a vehicle in the next lane enters your vehicle’s blind spot on either side, the available Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)28 is designed to illuminate the indicator in that sideview mirror. If you continue to signal a lane change to that lane, the indicator will flash to get your attention.
When in Reverse, Prime’s standard integrated backup camera29 uses a wide-angle lens to display a larger viewing area. Clearly marked lines on the screen show the distance guidelines, giving you more confidence to get out of any spot – tricky or not.
With available Safety Connect,30 emergency assistance is always within reach. Utilizing Toyota’s 24.7 call center, Safety Connect offers subscribers helpful features such as Emergency Assistance, Stolen Vehicle Locator, Roadside Assistance31 and Automatic Collision Notification.
