Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) is an advanced set of safety features that comes standard on most new Toyota models. With features such as Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert and more, this suite of safety features was designed to create the safest possible driving experience for both drivers and passengers.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control: This high-tech cruise control uses radar behind the Toyota badge plus a camera on the windshield designed to adjust your speed, helping you maintain a preset distance from the car in front of you.
Pre-Collision System: This system uses camera and laser radar to detect objects ahead of the vehicle. When the system determines there is a possibility of collision with a vehicle it prompts the driver to brake with an audio and visual alert. If the driver notices the hazard and brakes, the system provides additional braking force using “Brake Assist.” If the driver fails to brake in a set time, the system automatically applies the brakes, reducing speed by approximately 19 mph in order to prevent or mitigate the collision.
Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection: This system uses millimeter-wave radar and a camera to help detect pedestrians, in certain conditions, in addition to vehicles. To help prevent or mitigate collisions, the system activates an audio and visual alert in addition to brake assist, followed by automated braking if the driver does not brake in a set time. Automated braking operates at relative speeds of between 7-50 mph for potential collisions with pedestrians, and can reduce speed by approximately 19 mph. For potential collisions with vehicles, the enhanced PCS system included with the TSS P package operates at relative speeds of between 7 mph and the vehicle’s top speed, reducing speed by approximately 25 mph.
Automatic High Beams: AHB helps enhance forward visibility during nighttime driving. It uses a camera to detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles and the taillights of vehicles ahead, and then automatically switches between high beams and low beams so as not to dazzle other drivers.
Lane Departure Alert: LDA uses a camera to detect visible white and yellow lane markings. If the system determines that the vehicle is starting to deviate from the lane, LDA alerts the driver with an audio and visual alert. LDA is designed to function at speeds of approximately 32 mph or higher.
Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist: This system was created to detect lane departure under certain circumstances. Activated at speeds of 32 MPH and above, LDA w/ SA will alert you with both audible and visual alerts when you begin to stray from your lane. LDA w/ SA may automatically provide steering assistance if you do not take action and the system detects that you are still departing from your lane.
Road Sign Assist: This system uses a forward-facing camera to detect speed signs, stop signs and yield signs. It is then able to display whichever sign is present on your vehicle’s MID to help you see it more clearly.
Lane Tracing Assist: Lane Tracing Assist is activated when TSS-P’s Full-Range Dynamic Radar Cruise control is enabled. This technology detects the lane markings for you and will send an alert when you get too close to one side or another. The system also assists in keeping your car in the center of the lane.
