Wilsonville Gift Card Purchase Program

What is this program?

Gift Card Purchase Program, a new campaign from the City of Wilsonville that provides financial support for residents and local restaurants in need of relief in the wake of the Coronavirus. This month, the City of Wilsonville employees are visiting local restaurants and businesses to purchase $20,000 in gift cards, which will provide a much needed stimulus to our local business’s communities in the wake of COVID-19. Due to the state of Oregon’s “stay at home” directive, many local businesses and restaurants have temporarily closed their dining rooms or their front doors, and statewide sales have diminished enough for this relief program to be implemented.

How does this program work?

All gift cards purchased through this program are being given to members within the community in dire need via the Wilsonville Police Department and Wilsonville Community Sharing. “Our staff and elected officials have been working concurrently on several programs to serve residents and business operators who are suffering financially,” said City Manager Bryan Cosgrove. “This one is unique in that it serves two groups with immediate need, and anyone in the community can join us in participating and supporting the Wilsonville community.” All gift cards are being purchased at $25 increments at a wide range of restaurants throughout Wilsonville provided that gift cards are available for purchase. As the campaign continues, community members and the City of Wilsonville will show their support through the #onewilsonville hashtag on social media.

This is how you can participate!

1. Support your local businesses! The money that you spend in and around Wilsonville stays here, so shop or take-out at local businesses or restaurants!
2. Show even more support for these businesses by purchasing gift cards for future use, whether it be gifts or just using them at a later time!
3. Donate gift cards to relatives, friends, students, mentors, teachers, neighbors, colleagues, health care workers, store clerks, or any other community members in need of kindness and a pick-me-up in these trying times! All donations placed in City Hall’s drive-thru utility bill drop will be distributed to Wilsonville Community Sharing!
